A Protected Pocket of The North Fork
Just outside the village of Mattituck, on the south side of the old farm road, our gently sloping fields are nestled against 500 acres of protected woodland. Easy to miss. Impossible to forget once you know it's there.
This is Old Sound Vineyard — a working farm, a family home, and the place where every bottle we make begins. The barn once served as the village blacksmith shop. The woodland has stood longer still. Together they form our special place that feels apart from the world.
Our estate-grown wines are crafted by family and shaped by place. Soon, you'll be able to visit us at our tasting room. Until then, the wine will speak for itself.

Lively, fresh, and fragrant — Old Sound wines are wild-fermented and low-intervention, with no conventional additives beyond a small amount of SO2 to keep them stable in the bottle. What you taste is the vineyard, the season, and the vintage — nothing more, nothing less.

Reclaiming Merlot
Merlot is a grape that often gets dismissed by anyone who’s watched the movie Sideways but we think it’s an exceptional grape and we love to experiment with it.
We make four of our wines with our Merlot grapes grown on our vineyard—our Carbonic and Estate Merlot, as well our Pet Nat and Rosé. We encourage you to experience the versatility of the grape yourself…
Carbonic Merlot — The Chill One
Forget everything you think you know about Merlot. This is Merlot reimagined — made in the carbonic method, it is chilled down, surprising, and entirely unapologetic. Light, luscious, and a little fruity, our Carbonic Merlot is the bottle you open at a summer barbecue and suddenly everyone wants to know what it is. No decanting required. No occasion necessary. All the magic is already in the bottle.
Estate Merlot — The Classic
If the Carbonic Merlot is the life of the party, this is the one you want to sit next to at dinner.
Our Estate Merlot is smooth, medium-bodied, and considered. Structured tannins give it longevity, while mellow dark fruit notes keep it generous and inviting. Sumptuous without being heavy. Delectable without being obvious. Open it for an occasion worth celebrating, or simply on a quiet evening when the moment calls for something a little more.

Pét Nat
Alive in the glass and honest on the palate. Our 100% Merlot Pét Nat captures the vineyard at its most spontaneous — full of the kind of energy that makes you pour a second glass before you've finished your first. You’ll taste summer strawberries and fresh cream with a light effervescence and bright acidity. Perfect as an aperitif or for an afternoon outside with friends.

Rosé
Some rosés are an afterthought. Ours is not. Crafted from 100% Merlot, this is a wine that earns its place on the table — delicate in color, floral and minerally at the same time, and crafted for the long, golden days the North Fork does so well.

Skin-Contact Chardonnay
Our answer to the complex white. Made with seven days of skin contact, this is a Chardonnay that leans into texture and depth — hints of honey, a bright and balancing crispness, and a richness that lingers without ever feeling heavy. It's the wine for people who think they don't like Chardonnay.

Cabernet Franc
Our 100% Cabernet Franc, grown right here on the south side of the old farm road. This is the grape that found its home on the North Fork long before anyone was paying attention, and ours makes a case for why. Our 2022 vintage scored 91 points at the New York Cab Franc Tasting Awards. Expect freshness, structure, and quiet elegance in each pour.

Old Mill Bordeaux Blend
(2025 Vintage) Our first Bordeaux blend, made in 2025 and poured exclusively at our sister property, The Old Mill Inn. A wine made for a room — for a long meal, a good conversation, and the kind of occasion that deserves something with a little gravity. Watch this space.

Rosé Vermouth
A house project born out of genuine curiosity and a love of a well-made cocktail. Our Rosé Vermouth is botanical, balanced, and quietly versatile — it makes a mean Negroni, an excellent summer spritz, and a compelling case for keeping a bottle within reach at all times.
Coming Soon: Gamay & Albariño
In May of 2024 we planted Gamay and Albariño vines in our back fields. We watched them grow, tended them carefully, and in 2025 we celebrated our first vintage of each. We’ll be sharing these special new wines soon. Some of the best things take a little waiting.
